You can have as many browser as you can shake a stick at and most of them will be fine with the web shield browser. However, AOhelL Explorer won't be supported by the web shield I believe because it is proprietary and uses different protocols.

Personally I avoid an IE browser wherever possible, only using it when absolutely essential, to me activeX, BHOs and its integration within the operating system to me make it more vulnerable than Opera or Firefox. So I would stick with Opera, possibly firefox and Ie as a last resort and leave AOhelL Explorer alone.

Given the problems you have already have I would steer clear of IE.

I used AOL dial up for about a year.  If I closed the AOL browser (a version of IE) the internet connection would be lost.  I would minimize the AOL browser & use Firefox.  A lot of wasted RAM with 2 browsers running, but I didn't want to use AOL Explorer to surf.  If you don't need AOL's browser, don't download it!  I agree with DavidR, I don't use IE unless I have to.

I now prefer Opera to Firefox due to FF's memory leakage.  I use FF when I need or want to use one of its extensions.

I used AOL dial up for about a year.
Why spend 24.95 when you can get the same thing for 9.95  ???
There are many ISP's  availabe that don't require all of the add ons
that come with AOL.  (Just my 2 cents worth)

Basic AOL is $9.95
http: //free.aol.com /tryaolfree /index3.adp?promo=806070&service=aol
(I wouldn't want anyone to accidentally click on this one!)
It is not an introductory offer, it just has less online storage and fewer add-on options, not that I wanted them anyway.  Still, for that price, I would prefer an ISP that doesn't require the AOL browser.  ;D

(Yes, I use AOL.  Unfortunately, it is significantly more reliable than the other affordable options in my area.)

Thank you very much.
I will stick to Opera in this computer then.
AOL  Explorer is a free browser
and you can have different pages opened
in different tabs. I have it in the other computer
and it has not shown any problem that I know.
But since you call it AohelL  ;D I will not download it in this
computer.
Thanks again

That is me just showing my dislike for proprietary systems, everything about AOL seems to have its own standards, these differences mean the browser and email client aren't protected by the web shield and internet mail providers.

All of the other browsers you mentioned are also free and they also have multi tab browsing.

I didn't pay a penny for AOL!  I got a 6 month free trial and every time I called to cancel at the end of the trial they extended the trial 2 or 3 months at no charge.  This went on for a year.  I finally got tired of AOL & really canceled.  They called back a couple of times wanting me to continue my free trial again.  I said no more.
