Avast boot scan finds .cab files I can't find
« on: April 24, 2024, 05:41:34 PM »
Hi there, I have a question. How can I get visible corrupted .cab files in the NetworkService folder?

And why do you need to see it?
And why did you use the boot scan?

Because I have a problem with Windows Update not installing the updates correctly. Everytime I reset Windows Update, the same updates I thought they were installed, show up again... the full scan did not find anything but Windows Defender has found trojan Sabsik FL A with incomplete remediation...

OK, so Avast finds .cab files, why do you think that is unusual ?
Presumably Avast isn't alerting on these files  ?

I'm thinking that for some reason it can't scan them (.cab files can be very large compressed 'cabinet' files) and in some cases Avast can't open then to scan and or they might be considered too large.  This would generally be raised in a comment after the scan.

What I'm asking is why your concern about these .cab files outside of you can't find them (if Avast isn't alerting or throwing up an error) ?
Avast will have admin privileges in some scans and this may be why.
