License key is invalid

I loaded Avast 4 Home Edition as demo, 60 days ago.  When I got a license key emailed to me by Avast today, and pasted it in, the key comes up as Invalid.

Do I need to wait longer for the key to become valid?

Make sure you have correctly copy&paste it (pay attention to empty space possibly captured by mistake).

I have copied and pasted directly from Avast's email. I have viewed their short tutorial also, to make sure I was doing it correctly.  There appear to be no extra spaces, etc, in front, back or in the middle (although there is a dash, which they put in the license key). 
But it still does not work; just tried it again.

What exactly does it say? Key invalid or key expired? You may want to check your system date in case if it says "expired".
Though i suspect a bug because it's a new year and all...

I suggest an installation from the scratch:

1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
2. Boot.
3. Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
4. Boot.
5. Install again the last version.
6. Boot.
7. Check and post the results.

When I go into Control Panel and INstall/Uninstall Programs, there is no listing for Avast or Alwil software.  So I can not find anything to uninstall.

But there are all sorts of files listed in my C\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast 4.

I can not find any Uninstall.exe file listed in the Program Files.  Should there be one?

So I am not sure how to best uninstall AVast, and then reload.

The pop window I get when I enter the licencse key is "Invalid License Number".

Got it.  Thanks.  Uninstall worked fine.  Reinstalled program and got new license which was accepted.
