Scanning AavmGuih.dll seems to bog down my computer
« on: January 04, 2008, 02:38:34 AM »
I am running iTunes over my wireless network using an Airport Express base station (my computer is a PC).  Every once in a while the music will start stuttering and I can see that the transmission is severely degraded.  This usually lasts about 3-4 minutes before clearing itself up.  I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what is causing this, having eliminated any potential frequency interference issues.  What I have noticed the last couple times this has happened, is that Avast is scanning the file AavmGuih.dll at the time.  Does it make sense that this would cause significant system slow-down?  If so, is there any reason why I shouldn't add this to the list of files not to scan?  And what causes Avast to periodically scan this file?

Thanks

It could be an infection...

Do you have any other antitrojan program in this computer (like AVGas, SpywareTerminator or SuperAntispyware)?
