Used Avast now no explorer exe

I upload Avast on to a older laptop I had (windows professional 2000) After findind and deleting many viruses I can no longer open internet explorer It would seem I have no internet explorer exe file

Help please

i don't understand it.  I have the same problem on 1 computer but not another.  Both run XP.  I removed Avast from the computer that was not working and now it's fine again.  When you find out how to fix the problem please contact me at alanicky at msn dot com.  Thanks

  We say over and over again to "Quarantine" ( move to chest ), NOT
 "Delete" ( initially ), then investigate the "Detection(s)" as to WHAT should
  be done .

I didn't Delete or "Quarantine" anything.  All I did was install the program: Avast Home edition.  At that point, Ie and Foxfire could not display any web pages.

Firewall springs to mind - did you allow ashwebsrv access to the net ?
