virus in resdient memory?

If a virus is detected and moved to the Chest, is it necessary for me to restart the computer to remove it resident memory? Thanks!

Most probably, the virus does not get active into memory and was detected before, then send to Chest.
If a virus is active in memory, it will be better to run a boot time scanning with avast.
