Is it possible that avast automatically remove the virus (file) when the mail will be scanned.
I'm using firefox 3.0x

If you are using web mail, viewed through firefox, then it will be scanned by the Web Shield. It doesn't automatically do anything other than alert you to the detection.

It basically only gives on option and that is to abort connection (see image), which stops the file being downloaded to your HDD, so it doesn't get to your system.

No, only in the Professional version.
In Home version, you need to use the Silent Mode of Webshield.
Silent mode in the case of the WebShield provider simply means that avast will keep pressing the "Abort connection" button for the user automatically.

@ jkuiper
The problem with the above option is you would continually get the This page contains no data pop-up notice (firefox or similar message in IE) and you wouldn't know why.

I much prefer to know what is going on with my system and the alert message from avast does that, not only that it is alerting you to an infected web site that you would probably return to.

Please explain a little more ...

I'm using webmail but pop

Does that mean:

I am using POP not Webmail

or does it mean:

I am using Webmai converted to POP (via some function like YPops or the Thunderbird extensions for Yahoo/Hotmail/Gmail etc)?
