scanning extra partitions
« on: June 09, 2009, 08:56:03 AM »
Avast 4.8 home using folders have checked to scan C & D drives, but not E drive which is the 3rd partition on that same drive.   However, it is also scanning E.   Is there a way to prevent this?

Are you sure you didn't also click/select the "Local disks" icon, in addition to "Folders"?

That's probably what I did.  Was not aware that the 1st such click would stick.  Thought that clicking a 2nd time on the separate folder selection button it would override the 1st selection -- apparently not!!  So will need to be careful on subsequent scans.

Presumably if the wrong button is pressed, one must close & re-open the interface which would cancel the prior requests??

No, you can click the button again as I believe it acts like a toggle switch, try it.

Edit: Confirm it acts like a toggle switch, I just tried it.

You're right.  Guess I didn't notice that it read "on."  I'm learning fast to open my eyes!

It won't take long to get the hang of it, just something different to what you were used to.
