Trojan (maybe Artemis?)
« on: September 06, 2009, 05:36:03 AM »
I have a problem removing what I believe is a trojan - when I perform a search and click on any of the search results it redirects to another page with search results - I have never heard of any of these search providers and although I am reasonably sure it is not causing any damage to my computer it is very annoying. This trojan seems to have the ability to disable any and all anti-virus and malware software even in safe mode(SDFix and Malwarebytes to name two). I'm at a loss - any ideas??

Try renaming mbam.exe to monkey.exe and see if it will run. Rename other security software's exe so that viruses that block programs through wildcards of security softwares would be bypassed. If successful, start the scan.

If above does not work, consider using a rescue disk. Examples are Avast BART, Avira Rescue CD, Kaspersky Rescue CD and Norton Rescue CD.
