Message missing

I am using Outlook and all was OK then all of a sudden I am getting the "clean" message with my incoming emails.

There are check marks in each box to insert message in both incoming and outgoing.
Outgoing messages show up when sent but not in body of the email before I send it.

How do I get incoming messages to show up.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Avast and rebooted after each.

Avast 4.8.1356 fully updated
Windows XP SP3
Outlook 2002
