Mozilla to Kill Firefox 3.7 Minefield
« on: January 17, 2010, 01:45:50 PM »
Hey,

I just read this here

http://www.wincert.net/news/software/1862-mozilla-kills-firefox-37.html

Is this really true?  ???

Maybe that is the reason I don't see the update option in my build of 3.7 that I downloaded yesterday...

I now have to move to 3.6   :'(

no big deal...

Mozilla has revealed it plans to drop Firefox 3.7, and will instead roll out incremental changes throughout the year.

Rather than add features to Firefox only in once- or twice-a-year upgrades, Mozilla will quietly insert some functionality via its regular security updates, which appear every four to six weeks, said Mike Beltzner, director of Firefox.

That means Firefox 3.7, which was slated for a second quarter release, has been dropped from the development schedule, said Beltzner. The next version of the open-source browser after the almost-ready Firefox 3.6 will be an as-yet-unnamed update at the end of this year or in early 2011
I think it's better that way, so for instance extensions will follow the changes more easily...

see here too:

( I guess the other link should have mentioned where they copied the article from  ;D )
can't find a Mozilla official statement right now...

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

Thanks for this piece of information.

I think I updated to Firefox 3.6 RC 2. I will change to the nightly build after few days after getting some more info.

 :D

Some people are saying things like Firefox 3.7 is now 4.0
