Need Assistance-Upgrading from Free Antivirus 4.8 to Internet Security 5.0

Could anyone be kind enough to assist me in the proper process for upgrading from the Free Antivirus 4.8 to Internet Security 5.0.  I have installed the new program on a new laptop without problems, however; my question is what do I need to do prior to installing on my 2 existing PCs. Must I uninstall the free program prior to installation of the new? And if so, how do I go about doing that correctly??? Thanks

Avast says that you don't need to.
I think it's better to uninstall first.

1. Download the setup file for your product (AIS, PRO or FREE)
2. download aswclear.exe (link is in my signature below)
3. uninstall 4.8 via Win Control Panel Add/remove programs
4. boot to safe mode
5. run aswclear.exe
6. boot to normal mode
7. install avast5
8. reboot
