Avast 5.0.507 definition version 100430-0 Free version, Google Chrome

After this mornings update Google Chrome has stopped being functional in anything I try to post in.  I can read it but I can't post or use any of the buttons.  I don't see a firewall option in my avast console to make the change to allow it to work is there a fix?  It is the same in Facebook and also in this message board.

avast! has updated and this is being posted while using Chrome.
It has nothing to do with the latest update.
What else have you changed? What operating system and other security programs are you using

Never changed anything, it was working last night at 11:30 PM when I shut it down.  I am running XP and I dodn't have any other security running  I have never made any changes to avast from the standard settings that came with it when I first downloaded it last week-end either.  I only have 4 tabs on the left of the console they are,  Summary,  Scan Computer,  Realtime Shields,  and Maintenance.  I am thinking it is just a firewall setting but I don't have that tab.

Unless you're using the avast! 5 Internet Security version, you wouldn't have a firewall built into avast.
