Virus and Hijackthis help
« on: July 07, 2004, 01:45:56 AM »
My laptop has 4 accounts. No matter what account I get on, I get virus warnings, when I get on the net I get tons of pop ups or explorer closes it self, and I have shortcuts on my desktop that I never put there. I did a virus scan and repaired what I could with Avast.

Here is my hijackthis:

Do not have the time to take a closer look at your log, but you fisrt should use this cleaner: http://www.memorywatcher.com/uninst.exe

You maybe need to disable Avast Guard, bevor cleaning your PC, otherwise the guard will pop up, if the cleaner tries to delete the Trojan.

Ok I did that and what does that do?

It looks like you have a "pepper" infection and thats a cleaner for it!;)

Please also download, update and scan your PC withe Adaware and Spybot. You can find both Downloadlinks via Google or (better) by using the Boardsearch. After that, please post a new log with Hijackthis 1.98, thanks.

Ok I did delete what you posted. I did use adaware and searchbot. Now I still get a virus alert pop up like once per hour. I have this search engine bar called scrkeep at the top of my explorer that won't go away. My home page keeps changing. I can't open more than one explorer window. Here is my latest hijack this.

What Virus is reported and where is that file located.
To get your Toolbar deleted, fix this:

O3 - Toolbar: scrkeep - {2AA833F5-C8B6-5FA0-F89C-956A610D8320} - C:\PROGRA~1\EACHRD~1\bagsblah.dll
O2 - BHO: balm acid - {3C5613F7-6C2B-56AC-CA04-C2B7FBB90ED1} - C:\PROGRA~1\EACHRD~1\bagsblah.dll

restart and delete this folder:
C:\PROGRA~1\EACHRD~1\

And please unpack/move the "Hijackthis.exe" to a new, empty folder, don't run it from within TEMP-folder or from the RAR(EXE)-archive,
or you will lose all your backups of any changes made in hijackthis.

Ok I did those, but should I delete:
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://searchweb2.com/passthrough/index.html?http://msn.com/

I've been reading bad things about searchweb2.

This can be done much easier if you ask me. :o
Just click on the link in my signature and follow the instructions there.
That same page also has a hijackthis log file analyzer, not perfect but if you look at the reactions I got on it sofar it ain't bad ;)

Yeah, but I'm still unsure on if I should delete the ones that says if it is possible nasty. So it's always good to ask. Plus it's saying that searchweb2 is safe, but I'm reading else where that it's bad. So my question again is should I delete it? I think that's what causing these pops ups that keep poping up.

Also the virus that always pops up is:
Win32:Ruledor[Trj]
C:\System Volume Information\_restore{some numbers here}

It helps if you tell the location where the infected file(s) are. In this case (if that is the only location) just disable system restore and reboot. That will solve it.
