Usually avast is enough, but we're talking about an already infected system, else there would be no need to delete anything from the registry...
- Mbam is for a second opinion and is rather good in getting rid of registry entries.
- Ccleaner is good for cleaning the registry from leftovers.

If avast detects a spyware infection it will check the registry for associated entries. However avast doesn't do a specific registry scan as part of its on-demand scans and that is why I use SAS and MBAM as they specifically check the registry, not that I'm expecting them to find anything.

Well since none of those you mention are specifically spyware it has nothing to do with any anti-spyware function in avast's resident scanners, but the main anti-virus functionality.
