« on: January 15, 2011, 04:14:27 AM »
I have been having problems with windows Dvd maker and wonder if it might be due to a Virus!
Additional rootkit record available here http://forums.techguy.org/virus-other-malware-removal/974594-regular-check-up-kinda-lazy.html

Hi that is kind of vague.  What is the problem that you are experiencing ?  Why do you think it is a virus ?

Windows DVD Maker just shuts off after I click the next icon just before I add a file to convert to DVD after I click next the application automatically closes!  I believe it may be a virus because I recently removed a Trojan from super-Anti Spyware in addition I have a few virus in avast chest but do not where the file is to upload so you can see where the virus that is in avast virus chest!

OK lets have a look see, it may be a damaged file within DVD maker though

Download OTL  to your Desktop
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Select All Users
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in
netsvcs
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
/md5start
explorer.exe
winlogon.exe
Userinit.exe
svchost.exe
/md5stop
%systemroot%\*. /mp /s
c:\system volume information|_REGISTRY_MACHINE_SOFTWARE;true;true;true /FP
CREATERESTOREPOINT

  • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.

The logs look clean - I wonder if Divx may have made some changes

Have you tried a re-install ?
