Avast won't udate definitions
« on: January 09, 2012, 01:05:08 AM »
I had a problem with my remote software not working.  As a result of trying to fix it, I discovered that the windows firewall was off and couldn't be turned back on, Avast and Malwarebytes would not update and there were three p2p software programs running (none of which I had installed).  I managed to get rid of the fake p2p files, but the updates still don't work.  Has anyone had this before?  Any idea how I can get Avast to update again?  Thanks.

you do have internet connection on it ?

Malwarebytes have some new tricks.....if you have latest version

browse to    C:/programfiles/Malwarebytes/chameleon

run one of the files (not the one with the question sign) if the fist one you try does not work, try next

a command promt box should open, that say  "press any key to continue"  then just click the enter key

wait and see what happens
* MBAM will try to update.....
* Searc for malicious processes to stop.....
* Start MBAM and run quick scan....

when done, post the log
