How to automatically open report file
« on: March 29, 2012, 01:14:38 PM »
Hi:

I have Windows XP.  Ever since version 6, there does not seem to be a setting in Avast to automatically open the report file after a scheduled scan is done where you have it set to generate a report file.   Once a scheduled scan is done, the program will close after a certain time, even if there is a virus, so you have to open the program and check the Scan Logs section or the Virus Chest.   I know about the Virus alerts section, but I have tried the Network Message (WinPopup) setting and you could also set it to send an e-mail, but I could not get any popup to work despite typing in my I.P. address and it seems silly to send yourself an e-mail if there is a virus.

So it appears that the only way to automatically open the report file is to set a scheduled task to open the report file from C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\report.

Any other suggestions?   Thanks

Try this: open GUI --> Settings --> Basic --> check "Automatically open the Scan Results when scan is finished"
