Mail Scanner Service & Quick Scan
« on: November 21, 2003, 10:58:20 AM »
Just a quick couple of technical questions here. First does the mail scanner service started up through the mail wizard work by itself without any other Avast software on. Also does the quick scan work like a command line scan allowing you to incorporate it in download managers so it automatically checks? Thank you for your time and assistance.

The mail scanner (ashMaiSv.exe) requires the resident process (ashServ.exe) to be running - it is the service "avast! Antivirus" on Windows NT/2000/XP.

Yes, you can use ashQuick.exe this way.

In download managers, just write C:\...\ashQuick.exe without parameters. It works in FlashGet and some other download managers as well.
