Sometimes wierd things happen here Down Under.

I've done it, and will reboot, then come back here.

Cheers

Yeah I'm happy, beer in hand . . . end of the day, 12 hours billable under my belt . . .

But still no printing of emails and blank pages in IE6.

And 'Add/Remove Programs' is still blank as well.

A thought: Do you think there is some element of Windows itself which is buggered, given IE6 and the Control Panel are both playing up?

Yep, my guess is that it's actually avast's fault.. ;D

I mean, chances are the ScriptBlocker module was not uninstalled properly - and the system would then behave quite like you're describing...

That's why I wanted you to download and run the program...

Back for a minute after a big dinner . . .

I ran the software before I posted the last message.

Where to now, do you think?

I had the smae problem with Norton, i used there removel tool, i found it on there website, its called Rnav2003, it worked.
I still had to maulally delete some of there software but a good registry cleaner works for that.

Yeah mate -- done all that . . . used the Nortons one, then the Acast one then RegClean, Reg Cleaner and finally Reg Supreme.

I think I need a Windows specialist

John, a belated welcome to the forum!

I went through much the same thing months ago >:(
With the help of many folks on this forum, we finally got things corrected and running right...jmo, of course, but if you follow their directions step by step it will help.
NAV has caused alot of problems that takes some effort to clear up...

Thanks Cojo -- all done as instructed so far to no avail . . . if you have any further ideas it'd be great!

Otherwise I guess it's over to Thunderbird for email, and all Windows updates in future by downloading network installations (I still have one computer I didn't install Avast on).

Cheers mate

errr....after you are confident that you cleared everything left behind by norton....hmm why not try repairing windows instead?...i'm not too sure...but it seems that you might not have any other choices...

anyway....welcome to avast forums... :)

awaiting your good news... ;)

No Mate -- I'm not confident, although as you can see I ran Norton's little program, as well as Avast's, and a host of registry cleaners.

I'd repair Windows if I could, but as you can also see, Add/Remove programs being a blank window is one of the problems I'm faced with.

Lucky there's still one machine here that's never met Avast, hey?

I'm a bit pi**ed at Nortons though, because although I've never had a problem in four years of usage, as soon as I decided to leave them, that's when I discovered how much they'd taken over my machine.

:o)
