Virus getting through
« on: September 20, 2004, 04:47:03 AM »
I am running the free home version of Avast. I am getting virus infections when surfing the web.  When I ran Norton, I would get a window warning me that the site contained a virus and was blocked.  My Avast does not do this.  I run a complete scan of over 135,000 files and delete all of the viruses.  Sometimes just a few days later, I run a complete scan and viruses are back.  Is there a setting that will reject a virus from a website or something like that?

I am running XP Pro, have a firewall with Turbo Accelerator.  Run Adaware several times a week.  I connect through a 56K dialup v.92 modem.

Thanks for your help.

How is your avast configurated? Sensibility, scan archives, which providers are enabled...  ::)

Looks to me that they are scripts on webpages causing this. Avast Pro has a script blocker, Avast Home does not. Am I right here? And please also answer Technical's questions.

Can you also tell us the exact path where the re-ocurring virus is located?

In addition, the operating system may be missing a few vital security patches... ?
