setup issue
« on: September 23, 2004, 05:04:16 PM »
I just install the home version and have this questioin.  I'am using outlook express and would like to know how to configure the popup warning when avast found a virus in my email.  Basically I would like avast to automatically delete the infected file with no warning, this would save me the hassle to click delete and then go to the outlook and delete the infected file.
my os is winxp pro.
thank you

Right click the blue ball > choose on-access guard > internet mail > change > advanched > enable silent mode

Many other threads here would have told you as well as the help file  ;)

Silent mode in the home version only allows for the move to virus Chest option. If you want auto deletion of virus, this option is only available in the Pro version.

Personally I prefere the interactive option, I like to know what is going on in my system. Type of virus, method of potential infection, etc.

If however, you are getting so many virus warnings, that it is intrusive, I suggest that you review your computer security.

then go to the outlook and delete the infected file.

The Silent Mode is only available in Outlook Express.
Next version seems to have added this to MS Outlook (full).  ;)
