It updates successfully and instructed to restart the computer so I restarted? Everything went well after that not until i faced a weird and annoying problem. It can't even open up Outlook Express, can't open up IE and Google Chrome, and even some of other programs! At last but not least Computer can't even up re-start up after restarting same thing applies to shutting down? Can't even shut it down? This problem didn't appear before I applied the new program update 7.0.1451

Is Avast blocking something or somehow something isn't working properly? Or is it the computer problem?

The same happened here. I uninstalled in safe mode (using aswClear) restarted and reinstalled the version 7.0.1426 and everything returned to work fine.

w7hp64 - corei7 - boot SSD 40GB intel - kingston 8GB ddr3 - Asus P7P55D PRO mobo.
Hello,
Also same problem here just after yesterday update to 7.0.1451
ex:I use automatic windows batch and it stop working after some time because windows doesn't found exe or dll like wget.exe , tasklist.exe , ping.exe , .... even this morning wrong appl eventlog in eventviewer (I can't see what happened this night)

So , how can I found and downgrade to version 7.0.1426 like you say.
Ps:no backup point aviable

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Same problem as StaticGuy here, with Win XP SP3 Home Edition.
At first start, everything seems to load correctly, then WinPatrol warns me about "new" IE helpers and add-ons, that have been installed for ages (it starts with Avast WebRep interestingly).
Then, font display is corrupted in the task bar, icons appear and disappear when browsed on and off

EDIT:
Not quite sure what happened here...? My problem seems to have fix itself without any intervention from me, except a 5th or 6th reboot in Safe Mode. It's been 15min and everything looks fine.
I took the opportunity to check "load Avast services after system services" in the Settings section. Don't know if it will help in anyway, actually...

Will keep you in the loop if anything changes

Hello -- running Windows 7 x64 Sp1, all updates.  Clean install of 7.0.1451 from File Hippo.  WebRep appears to be half-working.  With IE9, if I go to a web site, the green bars are there, below the URL, just as they should be.  However, if I use Google or Bing to search for anything, I get the search results but absolutely no sign of WebRep -- no site ratings.

<snip quote>

More likely to be your firewall (which is ?) blocking the new changed components of avast, namely avastSvc.exe, which requires internet access or the web shield and mail shield won't be able to connect (effectively blocking internet connection).

I have Windows Firewall?

The windows XP firewall has zero outbound protection, so shouldn't be causing this effect.

Try a repair of avast:
XP - Add Remove programs, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Change/Remove button and select Repair, click next and follow.

You may need to reboot after the repair.

If that doesn't work it would be better for you to create your own new topic, so we can help or your problem could get lost and confuse this notification topic.

The problem with the autosandbox it's that it attempts to sandbox about 50% or more of the programs I run, which are all 100% completely safe, but still it closes them, it's incredibly annoying. I ended up disabling the autosandbox completely, it's just too disruptive.
Just set the auto-sandbox to Ask instead of Auto. Then you will have the option to run a file normally which will add it to the sandbox exclusions and that file will never be questioned again.

I have it set to "ask', still, it prompts me to sandbox just too many progs, that's why I ended up disabling it altogether...It can't be right that the sandbox finds about 80% of programs "unsafe", whatever the reason.

Whitelist approach would be a great help overcoming this prob.

I think they should think of whitelisting approach now.

When you select "Run normally" and then check the box to remember that answer, you're creating a whitelist.

1451 brings two problems on my machine.

As far as I have noticed until now:

1) I had my firewall settings set to Home/ Low Risk Zone and found the settings suddenly at Public/ High Risk Zone

2) It switches randomly into Safezone, opening up from 5 to 20 browser sessions on Safezone Startup.

I have a similar problem.  I restared after upgrading, and now 3 of my shields are disabled, and I can't bring them back online; FileSystem Shield, IM Shield, and P2P Shield...they were running fine before...don't understand what happened...

Repair avast!:
1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> avast!
2. Click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

Yeap, I found that thread after my post, but there's still the other thing that just changes settings without me knowing - nor wanting to do so...

If I had an answer to that, I would've posted it. ;)
