Update from 7.0.1451 avastUI, Maintenance, Update, Program Update, no problems so far XP Pro SP3 (spoke too soon).

Even after the update and reboot, I have just jot a toaster popup of an update, it is essentially out of date as it reports More information about version 7.0.1451, the version I had.

No links it is an update through the UI, that said presumably the links in post one of this topic would give the latest version (?).

Updated on Win 7, no problems and the connectivity loss if fast checksums are not selected in the firewall options no longer occurs.

Updated a few minutes ago to the last version.

The SSL mail problem i reported earlier is now gone.
Thanks for that.
The lag i was attended to by this thread (didn't tie that to Avast yet) will be proven to be fixed (or not) over the next few days.

XP pro (Dutch), up to date and all my systems (different platforms) are always on.

I can't find the link to the new version. Is it only for Pro users because I have the free version.

You shouldn't actually need a link (but Gopher John has given you a direct link) as you should be able to do a manual program update from the avastUI, Maintenance, Updates.

@gazzawazza: please turn off self-protection (Settings -> Troubleshooting -> Enable avast! self-defense module), download & replace these files in your avast program folder:
Please let me know if it helps. Thanks!

from avast! 7, supported outlooks are outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010
however, it couldn't crash, I look at it next week

Hi Petr Matrix

Thank you for the reply.

This is very disappointing news that Outlook 2002 is not supported. I have looked on the website and could not find any information saying this though. Perhaps this should be stated for the benefits of customers?

Also, the Mail Shield does 'appear' to work in build 7.0.1426 - I have multiple email accounts, including 2 which use SSL and Avast 7 appears to scan emails (the mail shield counter increases, etc).

When you say that Avast does not support Outlook 2002, in what way does it not work?

Thanks,

Gary

Hi gazzawazza,
it is a small misunderstanding. Avast and its mail shield supports all versions of outllooks, but only avast! addin for outlook (and its options in mail shield at section MS Outlook only) is supported in outlook 2003 and newer. If you are not connected to an exchange server with outlook 2002, you have no problem and you are full protected.

PS has anyone else replicated my outlook crash on exit?

If not, should I try a clean install? If so, what is the best way to do full uninstall + install? In safe mode? Is there a uninstall tool to clean all application fragments?

Regards,

Gary

Hi PK and Petr

My outlook crashing on exit, I guess, must have been some weird update glitch.

My process:

- I uninstalled v7.0.1451 in safe mode
- I think I was prompted to reboot
- I then ran the avast cleaner in safe mode
- rebooted
- installed 7.0.1451 directly in normal user mode (choosing NOT to install 1) the browser SiteRep component 2) I think the outlook plugin, as I know it doesn't work in Outlook 2002)

Outlook doesn't crash on exit now.

I'll try updating again, as 7.0.1456 has been released, and see if Avast behaves itself.

Regards,

Gary

I got the update installed but was still having problems. I turned off the behavior shields & it got better but I'm still having problems. The computer starts better but I'm still having problems getting on the internet. Sometimes Firefox loads but gets hung up & never really connects. I usually end up having to restart my computer several times which is really annoying. I don't do instant messaging or P2P, so I've turned those shields off. I don't know what other shields I can turn off to make my internet work better. I'm getting ready to uninstall Avast & download & install AVG. Avast used to be very good, but this latest update is the pits. I wish I had realized that it was a beta when I installed it. If I had, I never would have installed it. Does anybody know where I can get the previous version?
