Crashed repeatedly on trying to run an upgrade from install package, upgrade via GUI not available/not working.

Clean uninstall, then fresh install of AIS with only antivirus and firewall.  Yet again the sandbox was clearly seen installing and interferes with IE9 .

Despite being reported numerous times the same installer issue is present. Fesh install , go to Control Panel > All Programs > Avast > Change > add or remove any feature > restart and WebShield no longer functions , repair will not fix this so a re install is required .

Firewall fails to load/start on each restart. Have tried repair, run a new install and the issues remain so Avast is now permanently off my Win7 partition, just using avast4 on my Linux install which will be my primary desktop from, now on.

Script Shield doesn't work with the latest stable version of Google Chrome (20.0.1132.43).

Confirm the same issue as Bob on my RC1 7.0.1447 build, checking for a program update from the UI reports the program is up to date. It is as though the RC1 build is only looking for a beta/RC update availability.

Same here.  Updated by overinstalling.  After unchecking Google Chrome, did an Express Install.  Most settings survived the overinstall, except Mail Shield was reinabled.  I also had to register anew, even though I'd done a Clean install with 7.0.1442 Beta.

All 5 computers installed with the new version of AIS.

No problems but that's enough for a while. :)

@lucas,
I've downloaded the manual installer but haven't used it in case you make changes.
I'll wait and try doing the auto update from the beta release again.

Is anyone else having a problem with the latest release of avast (7.0.1451) and receiving email via Thunderbird?

I just updated to avast 7.0.1451 and, without making any changes what-so-ever to either Thunderbird or avast, Thunderbird stopped receiving any emails.  Before the update it was receiving just fine.  By the way, the email accounts are gmail and hotmail.

I played around a little bit with the security settings of Thunderbird and avast and finally got it to work, but only by setting the security in Thunderbird to "SSL/TLS".  The "Expert Settings" in avast for the Mail Shield I left unchanged - which are currently set to also have SSL security.  Another peculiar thing - the Mail Shield in avast shows NO activity at all.  It is as if the Mail Shield in avast says it is running but for some reason it is not.

Can anyone who uses Thunderbird confirm what I'm seeing or is there something screwy with my system.

BTW, my OS in Windows 7 64bit.

Yes, I'm holding off on the use of the avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe to test any fix that might be released. Or what a novel idea if the new Emergency thingy could be put into practice. Though I can't even see an entry for it in the task scheduler.

One sort-of benefit to not personally playing with the betas ... update from 1426 went just fine via the UI Maintenance, including picking up the proper registration info.

Just to clear up any confusion about the Chrome installation option, that choice doesn't show up until after rebooting, at least on XP.

Installed using the internal updater and so far so good.

Sending/Rec'g email using Thunderbird works.

chkdsk (error-checking) is also working.

Updated from GUI no problem.

Downloaded installer file just in case no problem

Ran Quick Scan 3:25 minutes on my fastest computer.  Fastest ever and faster than the download of the installer file. ;D

By way of comparison Malwarebytes Quick Scan took 86 seconds.

Neither scan found anything which is how I like it. :)

BTW, the servers.def file for the beta testers apparently hasn't been updated yet, so users who have installed the betas aren't getting the update to the release version yet. We will fix this tomorrow morning. In the meanwhile, if you don't feel like waiting, you can pull the full installer and run that (as some of you have already done).

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks

SiteCorrect.

1. When I typed in avats.com I got the message

2. When I typed in Kazperzky.com Firefox Awesome bar took me directly to Kaspersky.com

3. When I typed in Nortan.com Firefox Awesome bar took me to Nortan.com, which is a legit website

4. When I typed in Macafie.com Firefox blocked me

No message from SiteCorrect in last three instances.

From the results of the very small sample I prefer Firefox Awesome bar to SiteCorrect so far.

Hi all.

Just to say that there was NO update button for me in avast! UI to update from avast! 7 RC1.

Uninstalled avast! 7 RC1 and did a FRESH CLEAN install of avast! FREE 7.0.1451 and everything for me seems to be running smoother and better than 7.0.1426.

The ONLY thing that I find that is NOT working for me is the Webrep plugin for FireFox 13, apart from that everything is running as smooth as ever.

Thank you Avast! team for a great job well done :)

happy avast user.

When is Avast going to make the script shield working with Chrome? It still isn't.

+1 (newest final 20.0.1132.43)

i must say i am a little confused. this issue was reported on the former final version and throughout all new betas and the rc by several people and now that the new final hit the masses, it's still not working? i have never seen any mod or developer reply to this issue either, almost as if it gets ignored on purpose!
