Updated through the GUI on the XP machine. All went well except there is no Script Shield activity in Chrome.

Now I updated my notebook from 1426 using the GUI and after rebooting, the "additional protection" tab disappeared...win7 x86.
Had to uninstall, reboot, then re-install to get the tab back.
Second time this happens (2 out of 3), so there's definitely s/thing wrong with the new version...

A few notes:

1. In some versions/revisions of Chrome, the Script Shield indeed isn't working. The new version (7.0.1451) covers a slightly broader set than the previous one, but we're aware of the fact that some versions are still not supported. Unfortunately, the way Script Shield works makes it quite difficult to make it functional across all browsers and their versions. That said, we're trying to cover as many versions as possible, and the respective changes don't usually have to wait till the next program update but can actually be pushed out by means of virus definition updates.

2. We have seen some cases where the SafeZone browser was crashing. This was because of some corruption of its internal data. What usually works is to reset the SafeZone contents (Additional Protection -> SafeZone -> Settings -> Reset SafeZone).

3. SiteCorrect should work if the following two conditions are met: 1) the avast plugin (usually still referred to as the "WebRep" plugin) is installed in the browser, b) SiteCorrect is enabled in avast's Additional Protection -> Browser Protection -> Settings -> SiteCorrect.

4. SiteCorrect's database is extensive but far from complete. We will be improving it moving forward.

5. If you encounter any kind of BSOD, it would be really appreciated to submit the corresponding dump files. The folks over here can advice you on how to do that.

Thanks

Okay, my default search provider is Google. I also have the automatic suggestions turned on. Would that conflict with and prevent SiteCorrect from working? It doesn't seem to do anything for me in either IE or Chrome with everything turned on and installed.

I take that back now, it does work in Chrome. I am still not going to use WebRep in IE though because of the full toolbar issue.

BTW, the servers.def file for the beta testers apparently hasn't been updated yet, so users who have installed the betas aren't getting the update to the release version yet. We will fix this tomorrow morning.

It still doesn't work, guess it's too early in the morning... ;D
I will try again later...

I tried to update two boxes running Win 7 (64-bit) from 7.0.1426 to 7.0.1451 (Internet Security 7). Went through the GUI, and everything seemed fine. I rebooted, and both machines displayed the same error:

avast! will not be able to protect mail/news (error 10045).
Please check that the avast! service (AvastSvc.exe) is not blocked by your personal firewall.

The network connection is completely disabled. If I look in avast, it says "real-time shields: off" and "urgent: web shield off." Trying to turn them on does nothing. I did a clean uninstall of avast IS with the aswclear utility, and then installed using the full installer I downloaded from avast.com. Still getting the same error message and have no network access.

Currently have avast uninstalled on both machines in order to use the network.

Vlk, are browser extension API's not integrated enough to make Script Shield work using WebRep plugin? Most other AV's use browser plugins for such tasks. That should be easier to maintain i think. But i could be wrong.
