I just noticed that Web Rep ratings no longer appear in Google search results. There are no icons beside each result at all. Ideas anyone? I am using IE9 and they were there the last time I checked.

It isn't a program (version) related issue, when you experience that symptom it is more likely to be a webrep server related issue.

The latest update has crashed my PC - WinXP says welcome and diplays the wallpaper but never displays the desktop and will not shutdown via cntl-alt-delete. All the processes are shown as running, but explorer is not doing its job and cannot be shutdown.

Booted in SafeMode, uninstalled Avast, now boots OK except complains about aswRegSvr.exe being absent. Ran msconfig and unticked anything Avast, now reboots cleanly. I switched to Avast some years ago when AVG did this to my laptop, looks like ZoneAlarm are in for a surge of downloads.

Same thing happened to me as colinwray.  Did the install last night before I went to bed.  Got up and turned on my PC and got to the login screen.  Did so and then it goes to the Windows loading screen and stalled.  Tried to reboot several times.  Finally went into Safe Mode, uninstalled Avast and it had no problems going to the desktop.

Bad release it seems.

EDIT: I am on Windows 7 Pro.

Hi Moosers, Glad to hear it is not just me. I am a software developer, and testing my stuff on all the possible platforms is a big headache, so I confess I just leave it for the users to complain and then fix it quick. When you have as many customers as Avast, this strategy is seriously flawed ....

How accurate is the site correct module?  Does it prevent any real URLs from being accessed?
Sincerely,

I'm running 7.0.1426 on several XP Pro systems, with AutoSandbox disabled, because I just couldn't get it to boot consistently.  Right now all is cool and Sandboxie is being used for the un-trusted/questionably sites/downloads.

After reading the previous 20 pages of this thread, I wouldn't touch this release with a 10' pole.  So, I can't really "add" anything to the conversion here.  My question, for those who know more than I do, is simply "Should I simply turn off notification of new Avast versions, and never update the program again on XP?"  Does anyone think they will EVER fix this stuff?

1. No, just wait a few days.
2. I'm sure. :)

I guess......

I'll keep watching this thread, but it seems as though everyone has reached the conclusion that the problems only affect XP, and XP is old.  Hence, why would anyone expect the new release to work correctly? :-/

Did you upgrade from 1426?  If so, did you use the UI or Uninstall/reinstall?  I've never gotten the UI Update to work yet, since V4, without using aswclear.exe and starting over.
