I'll keep watching this thread, but it seems as though everyone has reached the conclusion that the problems only affect XP, and XP is old.  Hence, why would anyone expect the new release to work correctly? :-/

Well, I'm on XP and have no problems at all. ;)

Did you upgrade from 1426?  If so, did you use the UI or Uninstall/reinstall?

No, I did update from RC1 (1447) via UI.

Have XP pro with the now known problem on one of my system. Problem was so solid could not wait anymore so I Uninstalled Avast and now running MSE. Not enough attention to XP users by Avast will cause customer base erosion. Sorry!

Any insight from Avast Team?? :-\ ;)

It's around midnight here, so I guess you've to wait a few hours.

I'll wait and watch this thread for direction. As it is now, my PC is unusable.

If anyone can assist with direction; a response via PM would also work for me. ;)  ;D

hi, please could you send the created dump file to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming/

The issue is I don't have easy access to another computer and not being able to boot into Normal Mode with the affected PC communication is going to be interrupted. I'm still hoping for some direction on how to get past the Blue Screen message and get booted into Normal Mode. As it is now something is stopping that from happening. :-\
Here's hoping.

Edit: Gotta go but will be back

This update seems to have affected me too on Windows 7 as IE is very slow to load and then Roboform bombs out when running in the Sandbox. Have created another thread in case its not the update thats caused it but it was about the same time as the update was installed

Weird on-demand scan % behavior. I was scanning my entire 2TB drive and after around 500GB, it jumped from 83% down to 32% while scanning the same partition.

Did you upgrade from 1426?  If so, did you use the UI or Uninstall/reinstall?  I've never gotten the UI Update to work yet, since V4, without using aswclear.exe and starting over.
I have updated from the GUI every time since I started using Avast shortly after V5 came out. No problems at all on Win 7, Vista, or XP. My XP machine was updated from 1426 and is also running perfectly with 1451 and experiencing none of the problems being reported by other XP users. The problems are not universal and therefore much harder to track down.

For those of you using XP and are not having the same problems, are you leaving your computer on 24/7?

No, I have never done that but it is used for up to 10 hours at a time. My machines have always been completely shut down overnight except for when I'm downloading a large file.

For me, it seems it's not really related to how long the system is running, but rather what you're/it's doing. ;)

For those who are having the problem it appears to make itself known relatively quickly. I leave my system on about 16 hrs a day and I don't experience this issue and I don't know why there would be a difference across those XP users.

7.0.1456 has just installed on my machine without issues (but then I didn't have any problems with 1451).
