Nothing wrong with your English. :)

It's always an alternative if the update doesn't work.

I uninstalled Avast & can't get it to reinstall. AdAware has antivirus now too, but I don't know how good it is. What I do know is that since I uninstalled Avast my system is running a whole lot better. Does anyone have the link to go back to Avast 6? I never should have installed Avast 7.

Personally I wouldn't use AdAware (not just because it now has an AV and is likely to conflict with avast), but because I don't think it is a top program as it was many years ago.

Why can't you reinstall it, what errors are displayed, etc. ?

It would be best to continue this in a new topic of your own (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2.0 'new topic' button) as it is likely to get buried in this huge topic and make it even more confused than it already is. Answer the questions in the new topic and we will try and help.

But I don't know how good it is.
They've improved a lot the detection and the technology. There were tests on AV Comparatives that set them at the top (proactive detection). But their site is being worked on and, right now, I cannot find the test link.

Thank you Sky. I'll install the old version until they get all of the bugs in the new one fixed. I wish that I had realized Avast 7 was a beta when I installed it. I don't do betas because they're too buggy.

David R, what do you use to find adware on your computer? I've been using AdAware for a long time, but if there's something better that's still free, I'll use it. I also use Spybot to find spyware on my computer. I usually pick a day once a week & run Avast, AdAware & Spybot to keep my system clean.

I just do a Malwarebytes scan once in a while. I actually can't remember the last time I scanned with Avast. I don't use anything else.

FLABirder - Malwarebytes is the best thing to run alongside avast, many of us here use this combination and SuperAntiSpyware is also highly recommended, note that only one of these programs should be run in realtime with avast if you have the pro versions.

Craigb, I run the free versions of everything except Zone Alarm Pro. It seems that when Avast put these updates together, they didn't consider those of us who are still running Windows XP sp3. They seem ot be made for Windows 7 & 8 & I don't intend to spend a fortune on either of those programs. XP Pro works just fine for me.

The earlyer update that you had 7.0.1451 had some issues but that is to be expected on beta's, the current stable version 7.0.1456 is fine.

Both of the programs i mentioned are free, you only have to pay if you want the Pro versions for realtime scanning.
