7.0.1451 and Outlook calendar issue. FIX AVAILABLE!!!
« on: June 29, 2012, 01:58:21 PM »
The new release of avast has created a problem with Outlook 2010 calendar.
If you try to open an appointment in the calendar outlook will crash.
Opening outlook again comes up with a message that the avast outlook add-in is creating a problem, do you want to disable this add-in. Not disabling Outlook will crash again when opening an appointment. Once the add-in is disabled then appointments will open OK.
The problem also occurs with Outlook 2007 on another machine.
Build details are: 1. Win 7 Ultimate x64 and Outlook 2010 and 2. Win 7 Home Premium x64 and Outlook 2010

I was using the "Find a Contact" search box in the ribbon when outlook crashed on me.  The reason for the crash was the avast plug in isn't compatible.

Hello,
thank you all for your feedback. We have fixed this issue.

To fix it on your computer please download AsOutExt.dll and AsOutExt64.dll from:

http://public.avast.com/~kurtin/AsOutExt.dll
http://public.avast.com/~kurtin/AsOutExt64.dll

Then disable avast! selfdefense module in Avast Settings - Troubleshooting and
copy these files into your Avast directory (usually C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast).
Your problem should be fixed.

Regards,
Ivan.

I think it would be smart to make such patches automated installers that are digitally signed and don't require user to disable self-defense. Not all are willing to go through process of searching for install folder and manually disabling self-defense. Mostly because most users aren't that skilled.

Wouldn't this be just the thing the Emergency Update tool (scheduled task) should be used for ?

Hi Avast team,

Avast was not working since yesterday evening after i updated. I have paid more then a 1K and what i get is that that i cannot connect using my outlook, my network is down for almost 10+ hours after i have upgraded. Avast team, please put some real testers in your team, and test scenarios using various OS. This is a ridiculous way of pushing update and making the whole system unstable. This is really a bad experience from the avast team. .
