Same issue (((
Win7 64-bit, Avast 7 free...
Try full scan, boot scan - nothing. Repair - failed with instruction at "0x00115c12"referenced memory at "0x00000000" the memory could not be read"
Now it says htat it is updated, but 3 shields turned off and I couldn't turn them back on...
Malwarebytes quick scan - nothing.

Just one note - my CCleaner usually finds out some registry issue with avast, never paid attention on this -
Invalid file reference   ImagePath - "c:\program files\avast software\avast\afwserv.exe"   HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\avast! Firewall
may this be the case?

Hi,

please, could you try to send us a dump file if this error appears

on win7 x64b
- if this error appears, please could start Task Manager | right click avast.setup and Create Dump file

on win xp 32b
- download http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/dd996900.aspx
- open cmd and navigate to directory with procdump
- create a dump file by command c:\procdump.exe avast.setup

Upload it to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming/

maybe self defense might be requested to be turned off  - avast! ui | settings | troubleshooting | disable self defense
thanks a lot

Sorry, but I still haven't figured out exactly how to do what you want. I downloaded the procdump file and opened cmd, but I'm lost from there.

I also disabled avast self defense but that didn't help.

The download is a zip file, you need to extract the procdump.exe file to the root (C:\) folder.

Then it is pretty much as explained before:
If when you open the cmd prompt you aren't in the C:\ folder type cd C:\  and enter.
Now type the c:\procdump.exe avast.setup and enter.
This should then create a .dmp file, which will also be in the C:\ folder.

I don't have a problem, so I just tested this tool using avastUI.exe as the target process to dump, I forgot to disable the self-defence, before I ran the command you need to do that.

See image example (click to expand) when used with avastUI.exe as the target you should be using the c:\procdump.exe avast.setup command string. It will show the name of the .dmp file once it is written.
