Forced browser driving me to Norton or Kaspersky
« on: July 02, 2012, 12:37:13 AM »
I was very close to upgrading my Avast, and actually had a free option for 3 user Norton with my new laptop, but saw Avast free as an easier set up and registration etc.  Since the last update, an Avast "browser" will open.  It is a grey screen.  It will open randomly while browsing on firefox.  Maybe Mozilla needs to start some antivirus?  Should one have to disable antivirus when browsing the web? Seems to defeat the purpose to me. Slow everything down, unless I browse then shut it off?  Anyway, I have always liked Avast and feel very disappointed with this annoyance.  If Avast has a browser now, then tell me where it is and I will go find it, download it and try it.  Forcing a browser in with an update really turned me off.  I'm starting to lean towards the others now.  :-\

Welcome to the forum.
avast! doesn't have a browser. It will install the Google Chrome Browser unless you uncheck the request to install that browser.
A screen shot of what you're complaint is might help. :)
