@Alikhan:
Thanks, I did not notice the settings backup.

I updated three other computers and none of the settings were tampered with except for the participate in the avast community, which were checked on all computers after reboot (previously unchecked).

I've been using avast for a while. Tried other solutions but always keep coming back. Just a few things that irk me after the update: It changed my settings. Specifically: My updates are set to manual, the auto-sandbox is disabled and I do not want to participate in the avast community. After the update, my updates are set to automatic, the auto-sandbox is enabled and the box to participate in the avast community is checked.

I don't like settings changed without my knowledge or consent. Just a small complaint/observation. Can you all just leave my settings alone after an update or do I have to go through everything just verify the program is setup how I want it, not how someone else thinks it should be?

1, How did you updated?
-- with installer or with "Update button at Maintenance > Update" page ?

2, what was your "old" avast version (the one you've updated from?
-- could you provide us your setup.log ? Or Support package?

Update was done by right-clicking the avast icon in the system tray, pointing to update, then clicking "program"
If you would be good enough to direct me where to find the log, I will post.

My update froms 1426 > 1451 and 1451 >1456 (using the internal updater) both activated 'participate in the community' although prior to the updates it had been checked off.

the easiest way will be to let avast "Generate Support Package". Open "avastUI > MAINTENANCE > Support", at bottom of the page click "Generate Now" button.  Then please upload the package to ftp.avast.com/incoming - https://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=1061 and let us know the name of the "package".

thank you
Lukas

I have to say this is the most stable version I have seen since v6. Well done Avast.
Windows 10 Home 64-bit • Avast Free (latest stable version) •  Malwarebytes 4 Premium (On-Demand) • Windows Firewall Control • Google Chrome • LastPass • CCleaner • O&O ShutUp10 •

thank you for your report.
It's probably a bug - avast! shouldn't change your settings...

I did a clean install and everything is working great. Additional Protection tab is back. Glad I was able to help with this issue.
