Why is it taking so long to update from the interface? I have dial-up but it's still taking way longer than ever before. It usually takes about 20-25 minutes to update the program but it's been sitting at Step 2/3 for over an hour with no movement on the progrees meter at all. It started out at 50% and that's where it's been for the last hour and ten minutes. No error messages.

Ever since I updated to the first release of 7.0.1456 several days ago, the only way I can check my email is with the Mail Shield disabled and the only way I can surf the web is with the Web Shield disabled. I have just installed the latest update of 7.0.1456 and the problem persists. This has never happened before with any Avast update. One exception was the time I updated and Avast started reporting almost everything on my computer as infected with a virus.

MS Outlook is still crashing. I've made a dump but I don't have enough signal/bandwidth to upload it.
I've tested three times. The plugin is crashing.
Problem is still here. Dump uploaded.

I used my sister's wireless and got my laptop updated. I think my ISP was having problems. Just updated XP with dial-up without incident. Took about an hour. So far so good. :)

It did change a couple of my settings though. On Vista it enabled "Participate in avast! community" and "Enable reputation services" in Cloud Services. On XP it only enabled "Enable reputation services."

Every time I access the net, it says something is infected. Maybe it's having a bad acid trip with v7.xx

Avast 7.0.1456 update occurred today on two of my Windows 7 machines, both experiencing issues with IE9 freezing and errors, uninstalled and did a clean install (with appropriate reboots), same problems continued.  IE9 Reset made a temporary improvement, probably by disabling the add-in, but now issues are back.  New problem just started, now Outlook 2007 errors when the program opens - "Outlook experienced a serious problem with the Avast! addin".  Uninstalling Avast.

No problems here on any of the three machines. I do not have the IE WebRep plugin installed on any of them however and I don't use Outlook.

Hi,

Well my principal laptop is an hold P4 1,7ghz with 1Go memory, 169go HDD, DVD DL burner with XP Pro SP2

I repair an hold Eeepc 900, installing XP PRO SP3 2go memory wit old Asus SSD. ::)

Same thing, it's working fine, no freeze, no decrease capacity of memory and screen problem. :P

All avast webrep installed on IE8 and Firefox, and i don't use outlook too. :D

This version is more stable than previous, no shut-down memory or screen bad effect. ;)

Maybe disable plugin, to avoid problem.

Need more fix for other OS than Xp which is the oldest os too... :)

Re: Service program update 7.0.1456 - Dead desktop

Upgraded to 7.0.1456 today and yet again upon rebooting I could not do anything from the desktop after logging in.

After a bit of experimentation it would appear that stopping Zonealarm from loading at startup will allow things to work (it can then be started once everything is up and running) but this certainly was not the case prior to the past weeks Avast updates.

I have checked Zonealarm version and it appears to be the latest
ZoneAlarm Free Firewall version: 10.1.101.000
vsmon version: 10.1.101.000
Driver version: 10.1.101.000
ZoneAlarm Browser Security: 1.5.380.0
ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Scanner: 1.5.53.235
ZoneAlarm ForceField Anti-Phishing Database: 1.2.104.0
ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Sites Database: 04.155

So I would suggest that Avast is still causing issues for me on my Windows XP Pro machines :(

im using
ZoneAlarm Free Firewall version: 10.2.064.000
Vsmon version: 10.2.064.000
Driver version: 10.2.064.000
Web Identity Protections version: 1.5.388.0

and is working ..

My bad on that, I am not running latest ZoneAlarm and now I remember why. With the latest ZA, accidentally clicking on the A/V tab causes it to install it's own A/V without question. So I am not upgrading it until that issue is resolved. However you are correct, the latest Avast does happily co-exist with the latest ZA.

However prior to this weekends updates Avast was happily working with my current version of ZA.

Along with the email issues it introduces I think that I will have to stay on old versions of both applications for the time being.
