:D THE HANG IN FIREFOX 13.1, WHEN RUN UNDER WINDOWS 7 SP1 x64, OCCURS AS A CONFLICT WITH SHOCKWAVE FLASH PLUGIN VERSION 11.3.300.262 WHEN IT IS ENABLED. I DON'T KNOW IF IT OCCURS WITH OTHER VERSIONS OF FLASH - THIS IS THE ONLY ONE I'VE USED SINCE MIGRATING TO FIREFOX. I HAVE DISABLED IT AND RE-ENABLED BEHAVIORAL SHIELD - EVERYTHING WORKS NOW! CAN YOU PLEASE LOOK INTO WHAT MAY BE CAUSING THIS? (PERHAPS ONE MORE UPDATE TO .1457?).

(P.S. I AM RUNNING AVAST .1456 + FIREFOX 13.1 + FLASH PLUGIN 11.3.300.262 UNDER WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL SP3 ON MY LAPTOP.  THERE WAS NEVER A PROBLEM THERE, SO THIS CONFLICT IS PROBABLY RESTRICTED TO WINDOWS 7.)

The only reason I registered is because of ts1sds's message. I'm experiencing the same problem. Build 1451 was a disaster, but build 1456 seemed to have solved the problem. Unfortunately, 1456 seems to be a disaster as well since it causes Firefox to hang. Normal websites are no problem, but when I try to visit a website with Flash content, Firefox hangs. Disabling avast solves the problem.

I'm working with:

avast! Free Antivirus 7.0.1456
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
Mozilla Firefox 13.0.1
Shockwave Flash Plugin 11.3.300.262

Users claiming "all is well" or "there are no problems", you are NOT helping. There IS a problem and avast! needs to fix this problem (please!).

So... anyone having the problem with Flash in Firefox, can you please confirm that the problem goes away when you stop the Behavior Shield in avast?

Thanks

Corrupted Avast

Although i may be posting this in the wrong area i am in need of help.
A few months back i downloaded a free version of avast from Majorgeeks.com.
But a while ago it had an update that nearly crashed my laptop. But i was able to save it with a system restor, but in doing so it corrupted my avast so i can no longer use avast, nor uninstall it. I would love some help thnk you.

Please start a New Topic of your own here http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2.0 (click the New topic button at the top of the page see image) as this is unrelated to the original subject and will just confuse the topic and we will try to help.

This will most likely need a clean reinstall and we can show you that easier when not buried in this large topic.

Definitely better without the Behavior Shield (managed to play the whole video), but still some intermittent non-responsiveness - also see a black video screen for some time before it starts playing, which is not usual. However, there have been/are recent/on-going issues with both Firefox and Flash (both new versions)?

Thanks for investigating.

Before, I disabled avast! completely (and that helped), so I'm reacting. Shutting down the Behavior Shield seems to solve the problem. I tested youtube.com and https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and they didn't cause Fx to hang anymore.

Edit
: To be clear, we are talking about Mozilla Firefox 13.0.1 and the latest Shockwave Flash Plugin 11.3.300.262, which can be found at https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html]

Windows
(Flash Player 11.3.300.262)

You can check which version you have at:
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
or

This is strange, has anyone noticed after 1456 with XP SP3 that their right click context menu for their desktop and start menu items become invisible?  Menu items only become visible if you mouse over them.
No such problem here on XP.

In addition I, like a number of others, am having sound problems with the new Flash and am currently using a test version. Adobe are still working on this issue.

I've lost my Screen Saver - it's now completely black?

With the new PROGRAM update I am unable to launch Battlefield 3 through Origin. Once I disable all of the AVAST shields I can launch Battlefield 3 fine. This is the third issue in recent months that AVAST conflicted with Battlefield(Granted one of those issues was the Punkbuster false positive).

Just to note I have tried to exclude Battlefield and Origin(EA Games Steam clone) to no avail.

All my problems (sound, crash, freeze, no launch ...) with 4.0.1456 were solved by:
1- download uninstallation tool from Avast
2- download latest version of Avast installer
3- restart the computer in safe mode and run the uninstallation tool
4- restart the computer in normal mode and install the last version
5- restart the computer in normal mode and every program is running well
-> the auto update was done but seems it was not a good job. Stand alone installation was better.

I'm so glad to have reinstalled Avast 7.0.1456! ACG was terrible! Did you know that duing an automated update AVG 2012 turns off and disables all shields so it can update? It's also a nightmare and won't uninstall. I had to manually erase each and every file from the hard drive and registry to get rid of it!

THis new version of Avast is running perfectly, and I really appreciate the work the dev team have done to get this fixed.  I said I would reinstall Avast once it was fixed, and I have. I honestly don't trust any other anitvirus software at all.    :D

Hi  all,

Just updated to 1456 from 1426, through GUI, under Win XP Home SP3.

It's been a little over 30 min... and all is well on all fronts, it would seem.
(Besides, I can confirm that the Chrome opt-out does show on the avast's splashscreen after reboot.)

Many thanks, avast! Team, for your work!

(I  do feel however for all the Win 7 users who seem now to have all the hassle :-\. Good luck!)

I tried that... several times. Doesn't solve my problem with Fx and Flash.
