avast! AIS 7.0.1456
Windows 8-RP x64
Mozilla Firefox 14.0b9
Shockwave Flash Plugin 11.3.300.262

No problems :)

Because you're not using the same software. Both ts1sds as myself are using:

avast! Free Antivirus 7.0.1456
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
Mozilla Firefox 13.0.1
Shockwave Flash Plugin 11.3.300.262

But based on your report I'd say Shockwave Flash Plugin 11.3.300.262 doesn't seem to be the culprit... :-?

Are either of you using RealPlayer plug-in in Firefox?  There is a conflict.  Also, the new Flash Protected Mode causes problems.  See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash and scroll down to "Flash Player 11.3 Protected Mode - Windows".  Start reading from there.  A lot of people are having problems with the newer releases of Flash and Firefox.

Excerpt from Nesivos:

I don't know where you got Firefox 14.0b9, but I just searched their web site through and through, and the latest version I see available for download is 13.0.1.

I also don't know how you're running Windows 8 since it hasn't been released yet, unless in both cases you are part of some beta test groups.  How did you come by these versions?

It is firefox 14 beta 9, that is what the version number equates to.
Windows 8 has been available as a developer and consumer preview for some time now.

I'm so glad to have reinstalled Avast 7.0.1456! ACG was terrible! Did you know that duing an automated update AVG 2012 turns off and disables all shields so it can update? It's also a nightmare and won't uninstall. I had to manually erase each and every file from the hard drive and registry to get rid of it!     :D

There is a free product called "Revo Uninstaller" available at:

http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

This software is amazing at de-installing AND cleaning up other products that you want off your machine as completely as possible.

Revo isn't advisable for security applications, you are better off using the programs uninstall utility - see, http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/, this has a collection of manufactures removal tools, so that should remove any remnants, registry, etc.

I'm not Nesivos, just pointing you in the right direction of what they actually are.

Hi again.... (sorry about the id mix-up)

I disagree!  I've used Revo to de-install avast, Online Armor, ZoneAlarm, AVG, and BitDefender.  All of them were removed cleanly and with no residual problems.  I have used it both under Windows XP and Windows 7.

Disagree if you like, it is the other side of any view and we have seen many instances on the forums of it not doing the job properly. That way others can make up their own mind to use it or not.

Using Revo to uninstall security programs may be the reason you are posting about problems with Avast now.  Sorry, but Revo can't do the thorough job that the specific uninstaller that is provided by the individual program's publisher can.

+1 :)

Revo's also known to take a few extras with it on it's removal journey causing problems in other areas as well.

Revo also removes shared 'dll files and the problem doesn't show up till you eventually run the other program that depends on
the shared .dll file Revo removed but, it's your computer so you keep using it. :)
