Update to 7.0.1456 from 7.0.1426.

Settings -> Community -> Participate in the avast! community

Was set on!!! Please stop changing my current settings without notifying!

And Opera browser plugin was installed without asking!! (not 100% sure about when this happened since I HAD a habit of trusting avast updates not changing my settings, but I'm 100% sure that I wasn't asked.)

Hi. Since last Avast update Firefox 13 crashes unless I remove it from sandbox then reboot. Disabling addons does not help, only disabling avast and then only if I reboot too. My apologies if this has been resolved elsewhere. Have just updated to Firefox 14 - same issue. Everything worked fine until Avast update.

thankyou

Memory scan issues have always been present which is why it is recommended to untick that feature from your custom scans, i dont really know why avast have left this feature included as if anything is detected in memory then it is already to late.

As has been mentioned scanning memory in a custom scan (which gives the highest thorough memory scan) can and always has produced unexpected results.

The detections in memory are frequently other security applications loading unencrypted virus signatures into memory. Having set off a scan of memory by an antivirus application looking for virus signatures, don't be too surprised if it finds some in memory.

This is the case here as it is detecting the unencrypted signatures of A2 (A squared) and a similar issue with comodo loading signatures into memory.

The other question here is, is A2 the full fat resident anti-virus or just the anti-malware ?

FP does not exist in Version 7.0.1426 - Comodo Firewall (no AV) and Emsi Anti-Malware ( reduces setting)
(otherwise great  to play together)

No problems here with a similar setup. Just don't scan the memory -> problem solved..!! ;)
BTW, that's not related to the avast! version..!!!

@ Petrak
Sorry the detections aren't program specific (but virus signature specific), the custom memory scan for some considerable time has resulted in these kind of detections, you only have to browse the viruses and worms forum to see this. Regardless of that I don't believe it wise to make that selection, as has been said by an avast! team member if there is malware in memory, it is rather late in the day to make the detection.

Whilst comodo firewall isn't an AV it still loads signatures into memory, possibly for the defence+ element.

That's not really possible anyway - all the avast! scanning code is inside of virus definitions, i.e. independent of program version.
So my guess is that either the avast! detections, or A2 memory content has been updated in between.

I initially installed Avast Pro on Tuesday night.  Had to uninstall it because I couldnt get past the Welcome screen after I logged into Windows 7.   I re-installed it had the same issues.  I restarted in safe mode, restored back to prior to avast installation.  I re-installed and disabled Avast on the system start up configuration.  My computer started no problems after this.  And I just manually started the program.  Yesterday I was prompted to update...so I did.  All problems came back.  This time in safe mode I couldnt even restore because something was preventing the troubleshooter and the system restore functions from working.  I uninstalled again...and after reading some of the comments about the newest update, I reinstalled Avast.  NOW it is prompting me to update...if I didnt just download the latest update, what DID I download?  I did use the same email link I got when I initially purchased the software.  I went ahead and paid for the subscription because of good reviews and because compared to McAfee I was going to get more for my money, but it appears that so far Ive had nothing but headache.  I dont understand...as far as I know Ive found all the McAfee components and either disabled them or uninstalled them.
I have a Dell inspiron N4110, with Windows 7 -64bit with SP 1, 4g RAM and a 500G hard drive with well over 300G free space.

fftaz71 have you run the McAfee removal tool http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/ 22a in the list.

After running the tool i would suggest a clean install of avast as it may have been corrupted.
