If the outlook add/plug-in isn't working then as far as I'm aware the Mail Shield should take over the monitoring of your emails. Check the Real-Time Shields > Mail Shield, and you should be able to see if they are scanned. You can also check the email headers as avast records scans in the headers also.

Nope afraid not.

The mailshield is showing as 0/0.

Having checked the emails headers the last email which was scanned was on 5th July. Everything after this date hasn't been touched by Avast. :-(

That is a bit strange, but may be down to the type of email, if in the outlook account settings some of those use SSL (secure encrypted) traffic then they may not be being scanned ?
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Ah, that is it! I removed the SSL and TLS settings in outlook and Avast started working again.

I assume that when the Outlook Addin was working it was able to handle the virus scanning directly inside Outlook, but with out the addin working, then the SSL connection from outlook to the mail server meant Avast wouldn't be able to see the messages.

At least I feel safer now my emails are being checked.

That's correct the avast outlook plug-in is essentially avast working within outlook (not externally), so it deals with the scans before/after the encryption/decryption process and outlook handles the secure connection.

Hello AVAST! :) can i have a request???
in the next program update, will you add another feature that will set the Removable Media Scan in automatic???
I think it will help, because some people doesn't know how to scan first the USB Flash Drive before they open it.

Thanks.

It can't be the cause because it is not doubled in my registry and I'm still getting the double sounds.

Not here. Double notice (one sound, one sound and dialog) a few minutes ago on Win7 x64 ultimate.

Same here, still the double sounds. Another thing is that yesterday Avast! started flagging Steam files as being infected with W32 malware-gen. It happened with a Steam file and the main .exe for the game Rage. I had to exclude the entire Steam folder from scanning by the File System Shield to get the game to launch.

Please show a little patience. The problem should be solved in the new release of the program: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=102154.msg817644#msg817644
May the FOSS be with you!
