avast free detect the same as the payd for versions....it is the same virus engine and virus definitions

however......there is no security program with 100% detection......
if there was, the virus problem would be solved

HI I would just like to say that I have been using avast for several years possibly for about five  or six years now.   I now for a fact that virus software is not perfect but it has done a pretty good job protecting my computer from viruses, trojans, malware.  Avast antivirus whether free witch is what I have does a great job protecting my computer.  But please realize that yes no antivirus is perfect but if you want a great product  protecting your computer from threats on the internet go with Avast period.

Have a great day

avast! team has so much confidence in free version that they use it in tests where others use paid versions. Scan engine, definitions and all the protective modules are identicall in all versions. Paid versions just offer more features and tools that aren't strictly essential for best protection.

Do u have something running alongside avast! why not try malwarebytes www.malwarebytes.org and update run a scan with it once a week also win patrol free can be used along side avast to increase security...again No antivirus gives 100% protection against viruses. :)
