Happened for me too, on Vista and XP VM machine.
After automatic VPS update, I rebooted these machine without updating program but both showed "Complete..." window.
Of course, these avast version were still 7.0.1451, so I started manual updating. After reboot, same window appeared.

@igor
Both AvastSvc.exe and AvastUI.exe have valid digital signatures.

Once after update to 7.0.1456 is OK (well, it probably should have been removed, but it wasn't) - but does it appear repeatedly after each reboot?
If so, can you upload your setup.log to our FTP?
Thanks.

Igor,  I am having the same popup update problem on Avast free.  Shows 7.0.1451 (in red) with a yellow exclamation point on the Current Status screen.  I would be happy to help you get anything that you need to troubleshoot this, but seem to be unable to contact you by clicking on your profile pic.

Please tell me where I can find the setup.log - I am just a "common" user. I still have this problem with that popup when restarting.
I just wanted to uninstall Avast! and install again, but maybe I need not. I would send you the logfile via e-mail.

No, after updating to 1456, window appears only once.
Reboot without updating program to 1456, then I got it once, but not more (at least for now).

I don't know my log could reveal something, but I uploaded my Setup.log to ftp: "NON_Setup_log_w2k.7z"

Setup.log is in these directory (default place):

Windows 2000/XP
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\log\

Windows Vista/7
C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log

Please add "IgnoreSetupOutro=1" below "ShowSetupOutro" value in avast5.ini, this is a temporary solution until we release new program version. Thanks.

I have to do this on several machines. Could you please tell me if the new service program update is imminent?

I cant edit the avast5.ini even though I have admin rights.
I also can't change the forder or file owner even though I have simple file sharing turned off.
I have no file sharing on this PC anyway so maybe that's why I cant change the owner.
Using XP proffesional.
