avast! Free V7.0.1456 - Windows 2000
« on: July 06, 2012, 12:42:16 PM »
Hello!

I installed V7.0.1456 (Free) from scratch. At the bottom of the welcome screen, you can choose to install "Google Chrome" (see screenshot A). I unticked the first option and installed V7.0.1456 without Chrome (screenshot B). The complete installation (Express Install with default settings) was performed without problems. Stream-Updates are working too, the system is fine and stable.

BUT CHROME WAS NEVER RELEASED FOR W2K (and as a proof, as I installed V7.0.1426 on W2K - screenshot C, the bottom was not shown)!!!

Another user had the same behaviour:
Ditto for me in a W2K SP4 VM. I noticed it offers Chrome, which failed (unsupported in 2K SP4?), and quick scanned. Those are new. I will upgrade Avast 6 when it expires.

My recommendation:
PLEASE remove the bottom part of the welcome screen (again) for installations on Windows 2000!
Then we have the same screen as in Version 1426 and this would be VERY FINE.
So the (few) users of W2K will be prevented to run into problems if they try to install Chrome.

Have a nice weekend!
