for some reason my avast free version has stopped working and i tried to uninstall it to reinstall it and i can't even do that . i just keep getting errors ..

What is the full avast version number, e.g. 7.0.1456 ?

on trying to uninstall

on trying to reinstall

an error 0 ( 00000000 ) has occurred .

hey i suggest you try the uninstall tool and see if that could solve your problem

Then install 7.0.1456

Won't resolve the problem being reported a clean reinstall is the best option.

thanks guys all fixed now i had to go into safe mode  though

Yes you have to go into safe mode to run the uninstall utility other wise the self-defence module may have blocked the tool.
