I also did the Avast upgrade to 7. etc, and have had nothing but problems since. I tried the uninstall/repair option. It won't let me. I was able to repair Java but not Avast.
I tried your suggestion for the unistall download, my sys won't let me download anything. (Wouldn't let me download Firefox either.)
I have a Dell Inspiron basic, running Vista Windows Business; 32 bit op sys.
I did uncheck some box in control panel at some point when trying to fix my sys which I am sure added fuel to the fire. I wish I could remember which one. In my mind I thought I might be unchecking letting other networks use my computer or something along those lines.
