Certainly wasn't fixed at the LAST engine update... that was on the Saturday 28 July!! So someone is confused or telling 'porkies' on Twitter, leave you to decide.

Lets be sure about the version 7.0.1456 it required a reboot to complete, it is still double sounding, therefore not fixed.  If it wasn't fixed what was the engine update for?

Why can't they just get on with it, get it right and make everyone happy? This is more than just a glitch as I said before, just how many more engine updates are going to go by?

Davy
I have no idea what you mean. I never received any engine update that required a reboot.

  • Man is virus.
Supposedly, it was fixed by the latest database update. I guess we'll have to wait for the next one to see if that's true.
Well, it isn't. I just updated the database to 120731-1. I got a ding, waited and then I got another ding with the green pop-up. But it's already been said that this will be fixed in the next program update. An update of the virus database will not fix this. In any case, it doesn't bother me all that much. Now if it was a security problem, then I would be very worried...

It is pretty sad when such a minor issue (which should never happen in the first place, at this stage of the game in a product's lifespan) is allowed to be let go for so long before its fixed. I personally, know Avast is better than this... but it doesn't say much for them to new people who haven't used their product very long. Newbies can easily think "If you can't fix something as simple as a double notification, then how can I trust you can do something as complex as protecting my computer?"

You're better than this Avast.... FIX IT!

P.S. All my machines (Win7/64 & Win XP Pro) are STILL doing it

Is it so hard to read and understand what Igor posted https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=102154.msg817644#msg817644
Since we haven't yet had a program update, it's not yet fixed. Continuing to post until that update happens is totally useless and serves no purpose.

Righto, I will say again for the benefit of Dch48:

I hate having to repeat myself! On Saturday the 28th July 2012 I received and engine update... kindly note engine update and Avast requires a reboot to complete OK up to now, so what do you do - a reboot of course! After that the version went to 7.0.1456.

Now then if that isn't an update what was it, please do answer?  I can't make myself any clearer!

You're right, it is not fixed but they said on Twitter that it had been by a database update. I guess they lied  :(.  It would seem possible that it could be fixed by a database update since it was caused by one in the first place.

 ::) XP MCE V 2002 SP3, Dell XPS720 Intel Core 2 quad @ 2.66 GHZ w/ 3GB of 2.67 GHZ Ram.

Been getting double voice virus database update notification with one green pop-up for about two weeks.  Figured just a glitch that would be corrected quickly but getting annoying!!!!!

You obviously where running and older version. 7.0.1456 is the current version and the fix will come with the next program update.
I hope that explains it to you.  :)

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :) :) ;)

It's fixed!  VPS 120731-2 did the trick.  Update occurred 14 minutes ago.

Was never a serious or annoying issue, but is nice to know Avast! has my back.

Any word on what exactly they had to do to fix?

Sorry, but there was no fix (and neither was the problem caused by a virus definition update).
My guess is that it simply doesn't occur every time (or isn't heard every time)... that's it.
