I stuck with the "out of the box" default until this morning, then a few minutes ago switched over to YABB Classic which I'll probably keep.  For various reasons, I tend to be a lot more comfortable with old-and-familar things.

I was interested to see one change in the default this morning, before I changed -- someone had the brains to change certain parts of the color scheme in that.  The original coloring for the "Messages" status note at the top-right was almost unreadable yesterday, at least on my computer and to my eyes, but is much better today.

I noticed that in several themes that there is a border/space around the various elements of the page, for me this doesn't work well as I don't use white as my default windows 'window' colour. So for any one like me not using the windows white you get a coloured space surrounding the elements, see image attached.

So for me and anyone else not using white as the standard windows background, there are only a few themes that work.

I liked the default NEW theme untill the colors got changed. Now it's very hard on the eyes and I had to go back to the old YABBA theme.

different monitors,  different settings bob  :)    I find it much easier on the eyes for me.   The orange was horrid and too bright.

It might be a little dark but it sure is gentle on they eyes.
Who ever is keeping score, you can change my vote to the Helios theme. ;D

I'm with Bob on this.  I also went back to Yabb blue theme.

The new Alwil default seems to change color again to a faded grey with light light blue font.  Too hard on the eyes.

Funny thing is that you can only change the theme that you are using once signed on.  You cannot change the web theme when the forum is loaded.

That's the default skin which as far as I know....can't be changed by the user.

I want the option to change what I see when the forum is loaded.  I think the forum should go back to Yabb blue and let the user do what they want with the "signed on" screen.

This way a user can keep the Yabb blue throughout if they want.

Helios is loading much slower than other themes, just because of "heavy" graphics. IMHO, totally unnecessary for forums of this kind (security related). For some forums games related type "Doom", and other Run-kill-and-run-and-kill-and... similar games, that might be a good theme. Still too dark, letters are too bright, and when you take the contrast in general into consideration, after few hours helping in these forums, your eyes are like football field reflectors  ::)

Alwil New theme or default one, or maybe Themis... all of those 3 are great, although I would make at least one of those with little (but, just a little) darker shade of gray on the background. It would be much easier on the eyes.

Anyway, I'm very happy with these new themes, especially I'm happy because of this great new font. I adore "tall" fonts with small space in between characters.

Just my 756 cents...  ;D

Cheers !

All I know is that my eyes can't take the new themes for long periods.

Sorry I'm out of here for now.

Need a rest.

I was also having a hard time reading the avast forum on my laptop.  The light blue text is very hard on the eyes.  The text on this forum http://www.dslreports.com/forums/all  and many others are easy to read.

I played around looking at the themes and now it seems better but I don't know if I actually changed the look or not. ???
