Hmm, weird, just tried it again and it works for me. Could you try to uninstall Anti-Theft and leave just AMS on? That's what I just tried.

Worked like charm :) Uninstalled Anti-Theft, left AMS only, and installed Anti-Theft again after some time. All commands and all other stuff fro Web Interface now works.

Maybe restart of phone was needed in my case after removing non BETA versions, and only after it was ready to install BETA's from apk files properly  ;D

Hi,

i have installed both the anti virus and anti theft onto my Galaxy Ace running Gingerbread 2.3.3.  When I go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications, I can see "avast! Anti-Theft" in the list,

should this not be hidden as I thought that is what stealth mode was for.

Thanks for any help and ideas on this.

David

I just installed Beta2 for the first time and before it begins I' ve found a small bug:

In the installation process you can create a new Avast Account needed for using it. I have a DesireZ cell with Android 4.0.4 and more important the DesireZ has a hardware keyboard. So when using this keyboard in landscape mode the second password field is missing. You can not confirm the password.
To come around this bug I had to close the keyboard and go back to normal mode using the touchscreen keyboard. Now the second field is visible.
The bug is reproducable.

Keep on good work!
Mike

Hi MikeRD03,

thanks for the report, it'll be fixed in some future release (not necessarily the next one).

I noticed that the mobile security 2 beta is using significantly more memory than the previous one.  Any thoughts or ideas on how to reduce memory usage?

Yes.  When I start up my task manager, I see that the new version of vast runs around 40 to 60 MB.  The previous version ranges between 4 to 15 MB max..

excellent version I must say cudos to you all :)

done a few tests , and everything (current features) appear to be working well..

few questions regarding the SMS commands and future features as such..

  • are there any amendments to the SMS commands?.. like cc all not reporting sent messages , only received messages?
  • will there be the ability to have these SMS messages sent to the Portal rather then through SMS to phone in future
  • ability to use optionally wifi/true GPS for location services
  • other such features..camera's, mic recording etc..?

in my tests , this version's location settings were a bit broad.. old version 5-10 meters in most instances , this one 50-2000M .. 50 being data & 2000 wifi assumably.

keep up the great work !!!

Hi,

if you won't access it for a while, I'm sure it will go down. Also note that Android OS tries to keep the RAM occupied as much as possible to speed up the responsivity of the system. Even though we try to keep the memory consumption to minimum, it just grows while we add new features, nothing you can do about that. System then tries to keep everything up and running even while you don't use the features. When the memory is needed, it will get stopped to free up some memory for other apps.
