« on: January 07, 2005, 12:51:46 AM »
Hello!  Im having trouble.  I don't know if it's the settings
in ZoneAlarm or Spyware Guard.  When I try to open Outlook
Express it wont open at all.
I changed my security settings for email down to medium
but it still hasnt helped.
Please advise.

Can you found the folder of the mailboxes (generally C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application data\Identities\{...}\Microsoft\Outlook Express), backup your *.dbx files into another folder, delete them and start OE?

You didn't mention when this problem started? What version of Windows? If after you try what Technical says to do, see what the results are. If that doesn't work there is always the possibility that Outlook Express is corrupted. If this is a possibility then you may have to do a reformat (last thing to do) of the H.D. to get Outlook Express to work correctly.

I wouldn't go with full format yet... too much work to do, and maybe (most likely) nothing is wrong with rest of Windows components. Try repairing (uninstall and reinstall) of Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. I know, you maybe don't have problems with IE, but those two comes together, so there is no way to uninstall just one.

Take a look in here on how to do that if you are using Windows XP:

or Windows 2000:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/254623/EN-US/

or for some other OS versions:
