If turning off a major selling-point piece of functionality in a product is the only way of getting the product to work what exactly is the point of installing the product??? Hate to rain on "admirer parade" but I expect things put out for public usage (even if free) to work without doing damage to my system or workflow environment (constant browser crashes tend to ruin trying to get things done) and I don't think that that is an unreasonable position.

There are bugs in all softwares from time to time so as already mentioned if you dont want the browser crashes inconveniencing your browsing disable webrep for the time being, its really not a big security issue not to have webrep which is probably why avast haven't rushed out a fix and the longer the fix takes to come the better as far as im concerned as it will benifit the program and the user in the long run with a much more stable product.

I dont see how it could crash IE if it is disabled correctly ??? but if so then uninstall webrep.

Just recently switched all my personal computers to Avast.  I switched from AVG.  I have Win 7 & IE9 at home and my Laptop has Vista & IE9.  I purchased Avast Pro for home and have free on laptop.  I've been haveing the WebRep issue on both computers.  Random closures of IE on both machines.  One thing I did notice that was noteworthy - the tab that jams is always - if I'm not mistaken - the tab that isn't active.

I knew you could disable webRep but uninstall?  Uninstall Avast and  custom reinstall - deselect webrep??

Yes it's still happening.  I've tried posting a screen shot but the board hangs when I try to upload the jpb.  How do I uninstall it?

To uninstall webrep go to Programs and features or remove programs and double click avast, when you get the popup click on change and untick webrep -browser protection ( simple  :))

If by any chance you still have the crash dump file could you please upload to the avast ftp server, i also thought igor mentioned this problem had been solved in a vps update but noticed this yesterday myself again but i accidently deleted the file instead of zipping it :-[ ::)

I realize this is over a year old, BUT apparently the problem still isn't fixed...or it became a NEW (though identical) problem with Internet Explorer 11.
I just finally upgraded my computer last week from Windows XP and IE8 to Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 11, and that's when it started. I NEVER had a single problem caused by Webrep in IE 8, but now the only way I can find to keep IE 11 from crashing is by disabling the Webrep. Here is just one (of dozens) of error reports of Webrep causing IE 11 to crash:

Faulting application name: iexplore.exe, version: 11.0.9600.16518, time stamp: 0x52f347b2
Faulting module name: aswWebRepIE.dll, version: 9.0.2013.75, time stamp: 0x52d6c48c
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0001555c
Faulting process id: 0x954
Faulting application start time: 0x01cf3a1f393e4c58
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\aswWebRepIE.dll
Report Id: 789eff78-a612-11e3-b503-b280ff9c5076

Avast was fully updated after the clean-install of Windows 7, and I also need to mention that this problem does NOT exist in FireFox, Google Chrome or Opera Browsers. Of course Microsoft keeps referring me back to Avast for answers, even though I have a feeling that this might be a problem with Internet Explorer (all versions above IE8). Can we maybe get them to admit it after what....4 years now? Or has anyone found a "fix" for this by now? (Preferably a "fix" OTHER THAN using only FireFox, Google Chrome or Opera or disabling or uninstalling the Avast Webrep...which does eliminate the problem but is not really a good solution since Webrep is actually a nice, helpful feature when it's not crashing the browser.)

@NightwingWV308,
You could give the latest beta version a try.
