One final quickie question, then hopefully I can leave you alone... :-[
when you analyzed the log files, I noticed that ones that have 016 by them also have hyperlinks. Are these where the problem originated or are the repairs?
I will do the rest of what you recommend.
I agree with the better bet being the router, but can't swing that right now. Soon as we can, I'll likely do that.

the 016's are DPF's (Downloaded Program Files). In simple words:
This is a list of recently downloaded things that is stored in the registry.
Fixing/deleting them is just cleaning up the registry a bit. It won't change anything about how your system is functioning. You could call it "taking the trash out".
