Multiple Timeout messages
« on: January 07, 2005, 05:55:17 PM »
Have same problem, but with the regular edition (Pro). I think it began when I upgraded to 4.5.
I have a computer with XP Pro SP2 and I filter spam using Assp ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/assp/ ).  After the first connection, I get a timeout message box with a Yes No, that ask me to continue to wait or stop. After a few of those boxes, (about 20), I get the "421 concurrent connections limit in avast exceeded" error when I try to send mail.
I only have 1 mail account on my computer and I receive about 100 messages a day. 98% is spam, so there's not a lot of traffic, but a lot of crap :-X .

What is the process name (something.exe) in the timeout message?
Or ideally, post the exact contents of the message.

Also, are you using a personal firewall? Which one? Or any other utility that could interfere with your network stack?

Thx

I had ZoneAlarm, but I deinstall it because I thought it was that. So I currently only have my router and windows firewall. I don't have any programs beside that.
The message content is:

Internet connection timeout elapsed. Continue waiting?
 (perl.exe -> 192.168.1.100:25)
          [Yes]          [No]

Thanks for your quick reply.

perl.exe? Is the antispam you're using based off Perl?

Hello,
For me , the process is WebProxy.exe
the real message is
"-ERR concurrent connections limit in avast exceeded (processes:WebProxy.exe[20])"
I use Incredimail

IGABIVA,

are you also using Panda?
If so remove it and see if the problem is solved.

Lukas.

I only have my email account. ASSP is used to filter the spam, block Blacklisted DNS and do some basic antivirus functions (on port 25) and it sends it to my email program (server) on another computer (an old P3 700mhz).  :-[

I check my email with Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0 on port 995 (encrypted SSL) and send them to ASSP.  I use Thunderbird on the same PC that ASSP and Avast are on (P4 1.6 512mb Ram, Windows XP Pro SP2).

When I send them, I have no timeout message, but all the bad message get timeout. I think it's when it look the blacklist DNS, the whitelisted users or does the simple virus check. Maybe the process take too much time? It takes a second or two.
It used to work great for over a year.

And is there anyway to translate it in french ??  Can I offer my help to translate?
